The American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Black Belt Academy / Karate for Kids has been providing high quality martial arts instruction to the Oceanside area for over 19 years. We teach the Songahm style of TaeKwonDo, you can find additional information about the American Taekwondo Association, the Songahm style of Taekwondo, and our current and past leaders from the ATA Home Page.
All of the instructors at the Academy go through an intensive internship before becoming certified instructors. You will see many different types of leaders at the academy. The SWAT (Superior Winning Attitude Team) members have stars on their collars. They assist instructors with various drills/activities during classes. The JTI's (Junior Trainee Instructors) wear red/white/blue collars and also assist with classes and will lead drills from time to time. The TI (Trainee Instructor) wears a red collar, these students are 15 years old and older and will teach their own classes under the supervision of a Certified Instructor. The Certified Trainer wears a red/black collar and has taken and passed three seminars toward being certified. The Specialty Certified Instructor wears a red/black/red collar and has taken and passed six seminars toward certification. The CI (Certified Instructor) wears a black collar these members have completed over 300 hours of training and are certified ATA Instructors. All of our instructors are Adult, Child & Infant CPR certified.
